CERTIFICATION OF EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES INVENTORYDescription Chapter 1013, F.S., requires each School Board to certify by April 1 of each year that its educational facilities data within the Florida Inventory of School Houses is current and accurate. The district's data has been updated by the Plan Room within Construction Services to reflect all changes made since the 2011 certification.
Recommendation That the School Board of Sarasota County certify that the district's educational facilities data is current and accurate.

APPROVAL OF SUPPLEMENTAL PLANT SURVEYSDescription In 2011 the Florida Department of Education approved the district's 2011-16 Five-Year School Plant Survey. Florida Statute 1010.31(1)(a) mandates that supplemental surveys be submitted when a school district seeks to remodel existing buildings or to construct new buildings not included in the Five-Year Survey. This survey amendment allows for updates to the survey recommendations for Alta Vista, Heron Creek, Lamarque, Sarasota High School, SCTI, Tuttle, Venice Middle and the old TRIAD site. Upon approval by the Board, the submittal will be accomplished on-line through the state's EFIS network.

APPROVAL OF THE ASPIRING ARTIST GRANT PROPOSAL TO THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF SARASOTA'S WELLER GRANT PROGRAM FOR BOOKER HIGH SCHOOLDescription COMPETITIVE: Grant funds of $5,000 will be used for the Aspiring Artist program to allow disadvantaged youth to enhance their skills in the performing arts.

It is the recommendation of the Superintendent that the student be expelled from the Sarasota County Schools until August 1, 2012.

The bid of Walker Exotic Tree Eradication was the best low bid meeting the advertised specifications. The bid of West Coast Mowing was non-responsive to the requirement to provide a current Aquatic Pest Control license. This bid is for a period of one year with the option to renew for two additional one-year periods. The funds for these purchases are contained in the transfer from capital budget allocated to the Facilities Services Department.

APPROVAL TO AWARD RFP #12-0153 FOR INSTRUCTIONAL IMPROVEMENT SYSTEMDescription Proposals to provide an 'Instructional Improvement System' were received from three vendors on January 5, 2012. The proposal of Thinkgate, LLC, was the best proposal meeting the advertised specifications and is effective through June 30, 2014. This project involves the co-development of a Local Instructional Improvement System (LIIS) as required by the Race to the Top program. The LIIS will be developed to include a new professional development system, teacher/school based administrator evaluation system, and a progress monitoring system. To leverage District resources, the LIIS will link to existing systems such as the CrossPointe student information system, Angel Web standards, curriculum, and instructional practice information. Funds for this purchase are contained in the Race to the Top grant.
Recommendation That the proposal of Thinkgate, LLC, to provide an 'Instructional Improvement System' in an amount not to exceed $1,225,000 as a result of negotiations, be approved for award and purchase.

These submissions are in accordance with School Board Policy #7.71. The initial list was Board approved on 1/3/2012 (Item #51). The newly added firms are identified, on the enclosure, at the end of the initial listing are in bold print. Upon Board approval, the pertinent date from these submissions will be incorporated to the existing list.
